Now that the New Year is here, you may be thinking about clearing out some of your older household items to make a fresh start. You might wonder what you can do with all those things that you no longer want. If those items are in good shape and can still be used, there are plenty of things you can do with them. Here are some examples:
- You can repurpose old items into new ones. An old dresser can be turned into a bathroom sink vanity or a TV console. You can turn old picture frames into serving trays. Old T-shirts or sweaters can be made into throw pillows.
- Try moving the old things into a new room for a new look. You may be surprised at what a change of scenery can do for some things.
- You can swap items with your friends. You never know… you might be able to give your friend some of your unwanted clothes or accessories in exchange for some of her things and wind up with a whole new wardrobe!
- Hold a yard sale. You might make a few dollars that can be saved up for something you really want.
- You can donate your unwanted items to a charity like www.goodwill.org. The best part about donating is that the items you donate can be deducted from your taxes at the end of the year.
Reminder: Update your homeowners’ insurance inventory list if you sell or give away any items or if you add any items to your home that would need replacing in a claim situation. It will make it much easier if a claim ever had to be filed. If you don’t have an inventory list, give us a call and we can help you make one.
Have a wonderful New Year!
