Going to an amusement park is a lot of fun. Of course there are dangers involved if you are not careful. But staying safe is not too hard if you follow the rules and pay attention to your surroundings at all time. Here are some safety tips for you and your family to follow during your next trip to your local amusement park:
• One good way to find out about an amusement park is to check their website before venturing out for the day. You can find all kinds of great information like park hours, ride closures and even what restrictions the rides have for riders. You can better prepare your day if you know what to expect at the amusement park before you go.
• When you get to the park, get yourself a map of the grounds. Take a minute to get your bearings in relation to the map and point out different places of interest for your family. Make a basic plan of attack for your day and decide on a place to meet if anyone gets separated from the group. Make sure your young children know your full name. If they are too young to remember your cell phone number, write it down on a piece of paper and stick it in your child’s pocket in case they get lost.
• When waiting in line for the rides, read the rules for each one. Read them aloud for your children who cannot read for themselves. Make sure they know how to properly attach all safety equipment like harnesses or seat belts. If a ride does not feel safe to you, do not ride it.
The most important thing besides having fun at an amusement park is doing it safely. Be sure you pack up your sunscreen, drink plenty of water and have a great time!
