According to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, about 75 friends, family members, and fellow soldiers celebrated the safe return of Guard Spc. Keith Breton from Iraq on Saturday. Breton, 27, was among 250 soldiers who flew into the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Center after a deployment.
He served as a Brigade Food Service Administrator at a base called Contingency Operating Site Taji, roughly 15 miles north of Baghdad. He and his fellow soldiers served 2.8 million meals to hungry service members during his 10-month deployment.
“He’s home safe,” mother Laura Breton-Fibiger said through tears of joy, adding that she spent many sleepless nights while her son was overseas. “There’s no describing the feeling that I have inside,” she said. “No words can say how proud I am of him.”
Breton’s military contract ends in June, which is when he plans to resume life as a civilian. “A year ago, he told me, `Don’t worry mom. Before you know it, I’ll be back,”‘ said his mother. “And here he is today.”
