Adam Schiff said in a statement. “The career fair will provide an opportunity for people to network and find additional resources to gain employment or build their businesses, even in a challenging economy.”
The federal Small Business Administration announced that 13 private lenders have committed to increasing small business, lending a combined $20 billion over the next 3years. In addition, SBA representatives will provide resources to help businesses navigate tough economic times.
Workshops will be held with local, state and federal government agencies, nonprofits, and private employers providing information about careers. The state Employment Development Department reported that Los Angeles County’s unemployment rate rose to 12.5% in August compared with 12.3% in July.
